Business Breakfast Covered in Rochdale Observer

Business leaders inspired at our Business Breakfast

Date online: 26/11/2014

LOCAL business people were inspired and motivated at our business seminar on the theme of entrepreneurial success and technology.

Paul Dixon, solicitor and partner at Molesworths, spoke on the topic of Beer and Football. He recounted his high profile, landmark victory against the English Premier League at the European Court of Justice when he defended Karen Murphy, a pub landlady, who used a Greek TV decoder to show football matches.

John Taylor, CEO of Manchester based M2 Digital, was our first guest speaker who inspired and entertained guests with his remarkable story of business transformation and growth. After joining M2 Digital five years ago, John and his team dramatically changed the fortunes of the business, transforming it from reporting a loss into a business generating significant profits.

John revealed the secrets to his success by describing how he used the latest in technology to drive efficiency, re-evaluate the service mix and to be selective about targeting customers. He also talked about strategic outsourcing and putting customers first.

Other inspirational guest speakers included Tim Langley, Tech Entrepreneur and CEO of Manchester based software firm, CANDDi. Tim talked about his innovative new software product that allows you to analyse and better understand visitors to your website to improve lead generation.

Tim wrote a blog post about his trip to Rochdale (here) and said after the event: “I’d love to return to Rochdale. It is clear there is a thriving business community and organisations such as Hopwood Hall College and Molesworths are providing the leadership and the organisation to bring people together and promote learning and working as a team. I would love the opportunity to come back and engage further with the innovative businesses I was fortunate enough to meet.”

A diverse mix of over seventy Rochdale businesses and business leaders attended to fill the conference suite at Hopwood Hall College, Middleton.

Neil Clayton, Area Business Manager at Barclays said it was an “excellent breakfast event, certainly one of the best in the area.”

Deborah Bell from The Best of Rochdale said it was “a very interesting morning, entertaining and informative.”

Peter Rhodes, Senior Partner, who heads up the Commercial Department at Molesworths, said: “Once again our seminar for business at Hopwood Hall College has been well attended and supported by our local business community. The speakers were all excellent, imparting inspirational and motivational advice. I’m sure that everyone who attended has managed to take away several pointers to consider within their own business.”
